We''re recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering business that designs, manufactures, installs and supports specialist industrial equipment for customers across the UK and overseas. Following continued growth, they are seeking an Operations Manager to oversee both production and service functions, drive operational performance, and support the next stage of the company''s development.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you''ll be responsible for leading departmental managers, improving operational efficiency, enhancing customer satisfaction, and ensuring the business continues to deliver high standards across manufacturing, service and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop both Production and Service departments, ensuring operational targets are achieved.
• Manage and support departmental managers, driving accountability, engagement and performance.
• Oversee manufacturing operations, resource planning and workflow management.
• Lead the field service function, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and service delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production and service activities.
• Develop and implement robust operational processes and procedures.
• Manage operational budgets and resource allocation.
• Oversee Health & Safety, Fire Safety and company compliance requirements.
• Maintain and manage ISO accreditation and audit processes.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as a senior point of contact where required.
• Work closely with the Managing Director and leadership team to support business growth and operational strategy.
• Support recruitment, retention and development of operational teams.
• Monitor operational KPIs, customer satisfaction levels and service performance metrics.

About You

• Proven experience in an Operations Manager, General Manager, Production Manager or Service Manager position.
• Strong background within manufacturing, engineering, capital equipment or technical service environments.
• Demonstrable experience leading both operational and customer-facing teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to improve processes, drive efficiencies and implement change.
• Experience managing budgets, resources and operational performance.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Hands-on approach with the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels.

Desirable

• Experience within an engineering or industrial equipment environment.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
• Mechanical or engineering understanding.
