My client is a leading and established M&E and Energy Services contractor with a superb reputation and a great reputation, due to continued growth they are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Manager to oversee the daily management, performance, and optimisation of key energy centres on a variety of sites in London. This role will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of energy generation and distribution assets, including combined heat and power (CHP), boilers, chillers, and associated plant and equipment. The Operations Manager will lead a team of engineers and technicians while collaborating with stakeholders to meet service level agreements, sustainability goals, and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management
- Lead day-to-day operations of multiple energy centres, ensuring high availability, safety, and compliance.
- Develop and implement operational procedures, maintenance schedules, and efficiency improvement programmes.
- Monitor plant performance and energy outputs, using data-driven insights to optimise efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Manage, mentor, and develop engineering and technical staff, ensuring appropriate training and competency.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee contractor performance and coordinate external service providers.
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, regulators, and key stakeholders regarding operational matters.
- Provide performance reports, energy data, and insights to internal and external stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or Process Engineering.
- Proven track record in managing energy centres, district heating/cooling systems, or large-scale industrial plant operations.
- Strong knowledge of CHP, boilers, chillers, pumps, controls, and energy distribution networks.
- Demonstrated experience in managing teams, budgets, and contractors.
- Sound understanding of HSE legislation, compliance frameworks, and risk management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
