Operations Director

£60,000 per annum | Location: Rugeley | Car Allowance | Pension (Class B Shares 1%)

We are recruiting for an Operations Director in the Rugeley, Staffordshire area. You will be working with a growing, fast-paced business delivering print, fulfilment and marketing services, taking ownership of core operational functions and aligning production, warehouse, fulfilment and customer service into a high-performing, commercially driven operation. 

Working closely with the Managing Director, you will bring structure, clarity and leadership to operational processes while ensuring the business consistently delivers exceptional service to clients. This is a hands-on senior leadership role with the opportunity to shape operational strategy and support long-term business growth.

 Requirements of an Operations Director:

You will need the following:

  • Multi-disciplined experience in senior operational leadership within an SME environment
  • Experience within print, production, fulfilment, logistics or supply chain environments
  • Proven ability to improve operational efficiency and structure
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost control capability
  • Experience leading multi-department operational teams
  • Ability to implement systems, processes and scalable frameworks
  • Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Hands-on leadership approach with strategic oversight

  • Location: Rugeley, Staffordshire
  • Hours of work: Full time
  • Duration: Permanent

 Role of an Operations Director: 

Operational Leadership

  • Leading Production, Warehouse, Fulfilment and Customer Service teams
  • Translating business strategy into clear operational plans and deliverables
  • Implementing strong processes, accountability frameworks and performance metrics
  • Creating alignment between departments to ensure smooth workflow delivery

Service Delivery & Client Performance

  • Owning operational delivery against client SLAs
  • Ensuring service commitments are realistic, monitored and consistently achieved
  • Identifying operational challenges and implementing sustainable improvements

Production, Warehouse & Fulfilment Management

  • Overseeing production planning, workflow scheduling and supplier relationships
  • Ensuring fulfilment operations maintain accuracy, stock integrity and reliable dispatch
  • Driving consistency across print, POS, merchandise and mailing workflows

Commercial & Financial Oversight

  • Protecting margins through cost management and supplier negotiation
  • Monitoring operational efficiency, wastage and cost control
  • Working closely with Finance to align operational reporting with commercial performance

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Strengthening operational systems including CRM and workflow tools
  • Standardising processes across departments to reduce inefficiencies
  • Implementing scalable frameworks to support business growth

Leadership & Culture

  • Leading and developing operational managers and department heads
  • Building a culture of accountability, professionalism and continuous improvement
  • Developing talent within operational teams
