What you''ll be doing;
- Support the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the ERF Transfer Station and wider Energy Recovery Facility.
- Carry out waste acceptance checks on arrival, complete relevant paperwork accurately and direct waste to the appropriate disposal route.
- Operate site plant and equipment, including forklift trucks and, following training, wheeled bucket loaders, to load and unload vehicles, move materials and manage waste bins.
- Assess bin and pallet contents, transferring waste between pallets and bins as required to maintain safe and efficient waste throughput.
- Decant, clean, inspect and store waste bins, ensuring the transfer station is kept clean, tidy and free from overflowing waste.
- Manage vehicle movements and traffic flow around the transfer station and ERF to minimise disruption and maintain site safety.
- Carry out routine washdown, housekeeping and basic maintenance activities, report defects or hazards promptly, and support wider ERF operational and maintenance tasks when required.
What we''re looking for;
- Previous experience operating yellow plant machinery and a full, clean UK driving licence.
- A strong safety-first mindset, with a good understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements and the confidence to report hazards or stop unsafe work.
- Experience operating a forklift truck; a current forklift truck and/or wheeled bucket loader qualification would be advantageous.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work professionally with colleagues, drivers, waste suppliers and supervisors.
- Experience within a heavy process, continuous-production, waste incineration or clinical-waste environment would be desirable, along with basic computer skills and the ability to learn site software systems.
