Overview

Delivers second line risk management services for the UK and EU, business, and support areas in line with area policies, industry standards, and management expectations. Advises senior and executive leadership as it relates to operational risk of the businesses/functions that it supports, with consideration for the audience, in a collaborative manner with other risk partners where applicable. Supports the evolving landscape of the risk management environment and positively influences internal personnel and external stakeholders with evolving changes. Functions autonomously in the oversight and/or execution of activities in line with the operational risk management framework (as it evolves) and stakeholder expectations up to the Board: identification, assessment, quantification, documentation, escalation, reporting, and communication of unmitigated risks within the business. Considered a subject matter expert in the supported businesses or functions. Establishes relationships with senior-level personnel to stay informed of changes, communicate and present emerging risks, regulatory changes, and cost-benefit risk management opportunities for the business. May have indirect responsibility over team members who develop their skills under the guidance of this individual.Primary Responsibilities

Develop and produce complex and ad-hoc reports, spreadsheets, and project work related to various operational risk disciplines. Communicate with others across the Bank, including senior management, to obtain information and resolve issues. Provide guidance regarding data necessary for constructing simple quantification methods, predictive statistical models, or other items to enhance risk reporting.Independently evaluate the area''s management of key processes for effective and efficient mitigation of operational risk. Ensure risk management framework elements reflect the operational risk environment. Identify gaps or deficiencies and ensure remediation plans address the risk; escalate through senior management and governance committees as appropriate. Lead initiatives to analyze elements of this framework.With minimal oversight, prepare and support detailed reports and presentations for senior-level audiences regarding the state of the operational risk environment of the business function.Work with the business to evaluate all new products or changes to existing products and services to ensure key risks are identified and mitigated, and residual risk is defined; coordinate applicable governance activities.Serve as liaison with other second line risk teams within the enterprise for periodic reviews or input and second line risk services for local requirements as identified.Assess and work with the business to incorporate high-risk testing scenarios into first line of defense testing where appropriate. Review and assess testing output, making recommendations.Participate in designated risk committees and other meetings as a second line of defense representative; communicate relevant concerns or positions to management.Collaborate with Risk and Bank leadership, first line risk, and other second line risk partners to develop and influence value-added process improvements, resolve risk issues, and enhance reporting.Draft, document, and/or review departmental procedures and other documentation; develop training materials for the department or Bank.Interact with external peers and professional organizations to stay aware of changing or emerging risks and bring key information to the team for consideration in monitoring and oversight activities.Discern, formalize, and socialize the impact, likelihood, and root cause of issues and/or policy violations. Determine appropriate adjustments to processes to address risk cost-effectively; assess impact and likelihood when resolving complex matters.Support the Bank by managing European administrative governance, coordinating and maintaining the risk management framework. Work with Cybersecurity to identify, assess, monitor, mitigate, and report significant risks within Cybersecurity, Technology, Financial Crimes, Physical Security, and Continuity Planning for Europe. Monitor Europe-based adherence to the operational risk appetite and assist with eGRC administrative and reporting processes. Contribute to the development and implementation of Europe/UK outsourcing policy and framework to meet regulatory requirements for risk management of engagements, anticipating future regulated activities. Oversee and challenge business and partner management of engagements and services, including risks and controls related to services in RCSA, SLAs, and monitoring metrics; conduct periodic risk-based vendor discussions to support risk assessments.Understand and adhere to the Company''s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls; identify risk-related issues needing escalation.Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the MandT Bank brand.Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and addressing issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assigned.Scope of Responsibilities

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years'' experience in compliance, legal, audit, risk, or related fields, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least 7 years in compliance, legal, audit, or risk. Proficiency with personal computers and relevant spreadsheet/word processing software. Strong analytical skills. Working knowledge of applicable laws. Strong verbal and written communication skills.Education and Experience Preferred

Knowledge of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMandCR), ideally with experience as a Certified Person. Strong interest in developing the skills to progress to an SMF role. Knowledge of Capital Markets roles, including Loan Agency and Structured Finance administration.Physical Requirements
