On-Site IT Support Specialist (Tier 1.5 / Jack of All Trades)

OverviewLocation: Banbury, UK (On-Site). Contract Type: 6-month initial contract freelancing or via EOR, with high potential for extension. Reports to: Regional IT Manager of our customer.
We are seeking a flexible, hands-on On-Site IT Support Specialist who can cover a wide range of IT tasks, from desktop support and AD management to basic networking and AV setup. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mixed environment, is technically solid, and ready to jump into various support areas independently. The position is on-site at the Banbury facility and will serve as a visible, go-to IT presence for end users. A “Jack of all trades” mindset is essential, and prior experience supporting physical locations is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the first point of contact for onsite IT support: Windows, Mac, mobile, O365, VPN, hardware, networking
Provide support via in-person, phone, email, and ticketing system in line with SLA expectations
Support Active Directory: password resets, domain joins, user/group management, device policy (GPOs)
Support Office 365 apps: Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, including Teams conferencing and calendar support
Perform hardware troubleshooting and replacement: laptops, desktops, peripherals, printers
Support conference rooms, AV setups, and townhall events (projectors, Teams Rooms, printers, network/ethernet setup)
Perform basic network troubleshooting: DNS, DHCP, IP config, VPN setup, switching concepts
Assist with PC imaging and deployment using tools such as MDT, SCCM, or Ghost
Support user onboarding/offboarding: device prep, imaging, accounts, licensing
Maintain ticket documentation, asset tracking, and CMDB records
Provide responsive executive support when needed
Participate in daily IT standups and team coordination meetings
Coordinate device shipments, returns, and replacements
Provide basic user training on O365, Teams, MFA and other corporate tools
Handle light physical tasks (e.g., moving IT equipment)
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum 1+ year experience in IT support, service desk, or site support roles
Familiar with Windows 10/11, macOS, Office 365, and Active Directory
Basic understanding of DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, VPN; managed vs unmanaged switches; workgroup vs domain concepts
Experience supporting AV/conference equipment, especially in business environments
Comfortable with hardware setup and break/fix (Dell or similar)
Prior experience with MDT, SCCM, or imaging tools is a plus
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
Confident in managing on-site responsibilities with minimal supervision
Familiarity with ticketing systems and asset management tools
