Ocean Import Coordinator Overview

My client is looking for an Ocean Import coordinator who will be responsible for providing an excellent customer service experience across the full forwarding process. This will include activities such as customs clearances, quotations, arranging shipments and deliveries, invoicing and other operational functions required to support customers and the wider business. The role requires someone who can work accurately and efficiently within strict SOPs and KPIs while maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers.

Ocean Import Coordinator Responsibilities

• Complete end-to-end Ocean Import forwarding activities as required by the role.
• Follow strict and time-sensitive SOPs and KPIs to ensure compliance.
• Work closely with internal and external customers.
• Ensure timely completion of invoicing, job costing, customs entries and milestone updates.
• Prepare and submit internal and customer-specific reports within agreed deadlines.
• Resolve customer and supplier queries promptly and professionally.
• Complete customs entries accurately and within required timescales.
• Support departmental cost control.
• Assist Senior Forwarders, the Supervisor and Line Manager where required.
• Ensure all internal and customer-specific reports are completed within deadlines.
• Work closely with the Operations Manager on internal and external rate reviews.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and remain in regular contact with customers and suppliers.
• Participate in customer reviews to build visibility and strengthen relationships.
• Assist Sales and Management with customer development initiatives.

Ocean Import Coordinator Requirements

• Previous freight forwarding experience
• Ocean freight experience
• Import operations

• Previous business-related experience.
• A proven customer service record.
• Proven operational experience.
• Experience within the international transportation and logistics industry.

• A thorough understanding of customer needs.
• Knowledge of the international transportation and logistics industry, particularly Air, Sea and Road operations.
• Understanding of financials and their impact on the business.
• Good knowledge of IT systems and processes used within the transport sector.
