Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join its Adult Social Care team on a 6-month agency contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in reducing Occupational Therapy waiting lists while delivering high-quality assessments and reviews across the directorate. You'll work within a supportive multidisciplinary environment, helping adults achieve greater independence through effective assessment, equipment provision, moving and handling advice, and care package reviews.

The RoleWorking across the Adult Social Care directorate, you will provide timely Occupational Therapy assessments and reviews, ensuring individuals receive the most appropriate support to maximise independence and achieve the best possible outcomes.
You will contribute to service improvement by proactively reviewing existing care arrangements, supporting waiting list reduction initiatives, and working closely with health colleagues and external care providers to ensure safe and effective interventions.
Key Responsibilities-
Deliver high-quality Occupational Therapy assessments and reviews across Adult Social Care.

Support the reduction of Occupational Therapy waiting lists through proactive assessments and reviews.

Assist with triage processes to reduce duplication between health and social care services.

Carry out reviews of care packages to ensure effective, person-centred, and cost-efficient support.

Review double-handed care packages and identify opportunities to promote independence.

Review waking night support arrangements where appropriate.

Assess and recommend appropriate equipment and interventions.

Provide expert moving and handling advice and support to external care providers.

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes.

Provide mutual aid across Occupational Therapy teams when required.

Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with service standards.

Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
-
Current HCPC registration.
-
Previous experience working within Adult Social Care.

Strong experience completing Occupational Therapy assessments and reviews.

Sound knowledge of moving and handling principles and risk assessment.

Experience reviewing care packages and identifying opportunities to maximise independence.

Excellent communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.

Ability to manage a varied caseload and work both independently and collaboratively.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).

Competitive rate of £35.00 per hour (Umbrella).
