Hours:37 per week; Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm

Job Description:The Occupational Health Team provides advice and support to ensure Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary can effectively manage its workforce. The team promotes health management across the force, aiding in retaining skills and experience. We seek a new Occupational Health Advisor to join a team of 22, focusing on case management of referrals and clinical assessments related to health and fitness for roles within the Constabulary.

About the role

Working with 7 specialists and reporting to the Clinical Lead, the Occupational Health Advisor (OHA) will handle referrals from managers and manage cases from start to finish. Responsibilities include:

Attending management emergency meetings for critical cases;

Participating in case conferences as an expert;

Supporting return-to-work rehabilitation;

Considering duty adjustments and making clinical judgments on ill health retirement.

While not directly managing staff, OHAs support team technicians and administrators daily. They also respond to inquiries from other departments, signposting appropriately.

Candidate RequirementsApplicants should be registered General Nurses with current NMC registration and hold an Occupational Health Degree. Significant clinical and occupational health experience is required, including training in health surveillance methods such as audiometry, spirometry, and vision screening. Candidates must maintain accurate records, manage multiple demands, and make impartial, professional judgments, even in challenging situations.
