Obstetric Specialist Sonographer

Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Band 8a Sonographer to join our ultrasound service across Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe Hospital on a temporary basis until June 2027. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in general medical, obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound, including trans-vaginal scanning, and be confident working autonomously in a busy clinical environment. Main Duties Perform, interpret and report general abdominal, small parts, obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound examinations. Undertake trans-vaginal and a wide range of non-obstetric ultrasound examinations. Perform examinations in ITU, NICU, theatres and trauma settings, including sedated or anaesthetised patients. Provide specialist ultrasound advice and image interpretation to clinicians and healthcare professionals. Support one-stop clinics and specialist clinical pathways. Recognise significant findings and make appropriate urgent referrals for further treatment or imaging. Provide sensitive counselling and support to patients, including those receiving distressing news. Assist with biopsies and other sterile procedures, including patient monitoring. Undertake mobile ultrasound examinations where required. Maintain high standards of patient safety, infection control and equipment quality assurance.
