Nursery Manager- Haslemere

Purpose:

  • To deliver and ensure a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years.
  • To manage the day to day activities of the setting.
  • To ensure that the preschool nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others.
  • To market the nursery to ensure occupancy targets are met and to maintain a highly positive profile and reputation locally
  • To have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • To work with the Directors and assistant or deputy managers effectively at all times and continuously present a united front to the staff
  • To developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child''s development.
  • To manage other staff within the preschool nursery.
  • Adhering to company Policies and Procedures at all times, ensuring compliance with the Children''s Act and Health and Safety legislation, all within the requirements and guidelines laid down by Ofsted and the national standards
  • Lead positive relationships in the early years setting
  • Lead the promotion of health, safety, and wellbeing of the children across the nursery
  • Lead the children''s development, learning and play across the nursery
  • Adhering to company Policies and Procedures at all times, ensuring compliance
  • To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Directors

Main Responsibilities:

  • Overall day to day management responsibility for the nursery
  • To be responsible for the efficient running of the nursery and overall delivery of a high quality

service

  • To ensure that the nursery provides a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times
  • To ensure that the nursery plans an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress
  • To ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times
  • To manage, supervise and support the nursery staff
  • To undertake and assign designated officer roles - DSL, SENCO,
  • To work with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families
  • To ensure all staff understand and work to preschool nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies
  • Take responsibility for planning, which ensures each child is working towards the early learning goals
  • To organise and participate in the key person system
  • To conduct staff appraisals and supervisions as appropriate and to identify staff training needs
  • To ensure all records are properly maintained in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company
  • To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children''s progress and encouraging parents'' involvement.
  • To work in partnership with senior management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the nursery aims and objectives
  • Order materials and place in a timely manner
  • Lead and promote parent partnerships, including organising events for parents
  • Actively promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers
  • Lead and organise the observation and planning process to ensure children''s needs and interests are met
  • Evaluate and develop the curriculum and environment
  • Develop action plans with nursery educators and monitor the progress towards programme goals
  • Practice and role model positive behaviour management techniques
  • Support the Directors to work with the team towards achieving an Outstanding inspection outcome
  • Attend and encourage the team to attend training sessions and staff meetings.
