Academics are currently recruiting for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Nursery Assistant to join a welcoming school in Berkhamsted from October 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to become part of a supportive Early Years environment where children are encouraged to learn, develop and thrive.

The Nursery Assistant role

Working alongside the class teacher and Early Years team, you will:

• Support children with their learning, development and day-to-day activities
• Help create a positive, stimulating and safe learning environment
• Encourage children''s communication, confidence and independence
• Support individual children and small groups with Early Years activities
• Assist with observations and maintaining appropriate records of children''s development
• Follow the school''s safeguarding, health and safety, and Early Years procedures
• Build positive relationships with children, staff and parents
• Help maintain a clean, organised and welcoming classroom environment

What we''re looking for

The ideal Nursery Assistant will:

• Hold a Level 2 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or a relevant equivalent - desirable
• Have previous experience working with Nursery or Early Years-aged children
• Be warm, patient and enthusiastic about supporting young children''s development
• Have a good understanding of safeguarding and the importance of children''s welfare
• Be reliable, proactive and confident working as part of a team
• Be able to commute to Berkhamsted
