Clinical Lead – Complex Care, Mental Health & Rehabilitation
Part-Time (3 days per week – Flexible working available)

Our Client is a specialist healthcare organisation dedicated to transforming outcomes for adults and children with complex clinical, psychosocial, and rehabilitative needs.
They partner closely with multidisciplinary teams, community providers, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), and local authorities to design and implement evidence-based, person-centred care and rehabilitation pathways.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Lead, who is NMC registered based in County Durham to oversee the clinical governance and delivery of specialist care packages for adults and children with complex care , mental health, and rehabilitation needs.
In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary case reviews, design person-centred rehabilitation and recovery plans, and ensure clinical excellence across community-based packages. You will work in close partnership with NHS trusts, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Adult Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs), allied health professionals (OTs, Physios), and local authorities to support community reintegration, foster independence, and reduce avoidable admissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Oversight & Rehabilitation: Lead clinical management, functional assessments, and recovery/rehabilitation pathways for children and adults with complex mental health and physical needs.
- MDT Leadership: Chair multidisciplinary meetings, coordinating effectively with CAMHS, CMHTs, GPs, social workers, and therapists.
- Staff Supervision & Competency: Mentor, clinically supervise, and train care teams and nurses in managing complex mental health presentations, neurorehabilitation, and positive behaviour support (PBS).
- Risk & Governance: Conduct dynamic risk assessments, clinical audits, and ensure all care delivery adheres to CQC regulations, the Mental Health Act, and the Mental Capacity Act.
- Quality Improvement: Use data-driven insights to evaluate service effectiveness, patient outcomes, and evidence-based clinical practices.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Professional Registration: Active UK clinical registration with the NMC (Registered Mental Health Nurse / RNMH, Children’s Nurse / RN-Child, Adult Nurse / RNA) or HCPC (e.g., Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, Physiotherapist).
- Specialist Experience: Proven track record supporting both adults and children/young people with complex needs, mental health conditions, and structured rehabilitation programmes.
- Clinical Leadership: Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision, staff mentoring, and leading multidisciplinary case management.
- Framework Knowledge: Strong understanding of CQC standards, safeguarding protocols for both children and adults, trauma-informed care, and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
- Communication: Exceptional ability to build rapport with patients, families, and key multi-agency stakeholders.
