Non-Medical Consultant- Multiple Sclerosis

Overview
An 18 month secondment for a Non-Medical Consultant in Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The role is part of the MS team within the division of Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences, Salford Care Organisation, covering the Greater Manchester region. This is a collaborative working project (CWP) with Novartis Pharmaceuticals to improve capacity within the MS service in Greater Manchester. The successful candidate will support patient-facing clinics to review and, when appropriate, optimise treatment for patients identified within the CWP. Strong organisational and IT skills are required to undertake administrative duties including MDT activities, with enhanced communication for complex clinical discussions.Main duties of the job
Provide highly specialist professional advice, consultancy, clinical expertise and leadership within the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) team.Demonstrate advanced skills and competences to influence and inform the delivery of high quality care for MS patients.Establish an evidence base for practice through benchmarking, audit and research in line with clinical governance and disseminate findings locally, regionally, nationally and internationally as appropriate.Develop and strengthen inter-professional links to promote excellence in practice; lead on strategic service development and embedding local and national policies as part of the leadership team.Provide managerial and professional leadership for the Lead practitioner in Multiple Sclerosis.Actively develop and contribute to the research and evaluation agenda within the specialty and care models, ensuring continuous improvement of evidence-based care.Provide leadership and consultancy within the scope of expertise to the MS service and wider organisation and partner stakeholders.Contribute to ongoing research and evaluation activities within the speciality and care models.Working for our organisation

Essential Criteria: Extensive experience in Multiple Sclerosis; evidence of research and audit.Desirable Criteria: Experience working at band 8A; evidence of benchmarking.Essential: Extensive experience at Band 7 or above in Multiple Sclerosis; extensive experience in Neurosciences; NMC/HCPC qualification; evidence of teaching/mentoring.Desirable: NMP qualification; Masters pathway completed or in progress; experience of managing/leading a team; evidence of national presentation and audit.Seniority level
