Factory Operative – Medway

Full-Time | 46 Hours per Week

Monday - Thursday | 6pm- 6am

Pearson Whiffin Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Factory Operative to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Medway.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous factory, production or manufacturing experience who is looking for a practical, hands-on role within a specialist production environment.

Working within the Ceramic Shell Line, you will be responsible for supporting the processing of castings through several stages of production, including machinery operation, quality checks, manual processes and accurate production recording.

Working as part of the production team, you'll be responsible for ensuring components are processed safely, accurately and in line with required manufacturing standards.

Responsibilities will include:

• Operating and managing specialist production machinery
• Loading and unloading robotic production equipment
• Monitoring the operation of the Ceramic Shell Line robot
• Carrying out manual dipping processes when required
• Mixing and testing slurry used within the manufacturing process
• Operating specialist production equipment
• Carrying out patching and repair work on moulds
• Completing burnout processes
• Processing components in accordance with technical cards and work instructions
• Carrying out manual handling duties
• Recording production activity using touchscreen systems
• Accurately completing job cards and production documentation
• Carrying out slurry and shell quality control checks
• Monitoring product quality throughout the manufacturing process
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
• Supporting the wider production team as required

• Previous experience within a factory, manufacturing, production or engineering environment
• Comfortable working in a hands-on and practical role
• Experience operating machinery or production equipment would be advantageous
• Strong attention to detail
• Good awareness of quality standards
• Ability to follow written instructions and manufacturing procedures
• Reliable and punctual
• Comfortable carrying out manual handling duties
• Able to work effectively as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to learn new production processes and equipment
• Comfortable working within a busy manufacturing environment

Experience within engineering, casting, foundry, ceramics, aerospace, metalwork or specialist manufacturing would be particularly beneficial.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Wear the correct PPE at all times
• Follow all site Health & Safety procedures
• Handle chemicals and materials in accordance with COSHH requirements
• Follow relevant Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the department
• Work safely around machinery and production equipment
