A fantastic opportunity for a Nights Chargehand to support the Finishing Supervisor and look after the Galvanising area. Taking the lead to ensure all Health, Safety & Environmental procedures are being adhered to and the department is fully compliant. 
 
The Galvanising Chargehand role is to assist the Finishing Supervisor in the day-to-day operation of the Finishing Department, ensuring the night shift runs safely and efficiently while utilising resources to their maximum potential.

Job Description for the role:

  • As the Nights Chargehand, you will ensure all employees are wearing their PPE whilst in working areas
  • Ensure the work on the production schedule is cleared within the normal shift hours
  • As the Nights Galvanising Chargehand, you will mentor inexperienced employees
  • Ensure the working area is free from clutter and that safe systems of work are being followed
  • As the Nights Chargehand, you will advise onthe  appropriate safe method of unloading materials
  • Reporting any problems or accidents to senior management
  • As the Nights Galvanising Chargehand, you will supervise the loading of zinc / other alloys into the bath
  • Ensure coating plant employees use appropriate lifting aids where applicable
  • As the Nights Chargehand, you will ensure employees working at height are tethered whilst working on the booth
  • Problem-solving if issues arise with capacity/breakdowns
It would be good to see candidates with the following skills and experience:
  • Previous experience working in an Engineering, Foundry, Galvanising, Metal Processing, Fabrication or similar environment is essential
  • Proven leadership/supervisory skills is highly preferable for the role
  • 3 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English
  • Capable of forming strong, trustworthy work relationships.
  • A team player who acts with integrity and respect for others
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Willingness to complete additional training as required
  • Flexible and hard-working
Hours:  Monday – Thursday 6:30 pm – 5:30 am
Salary:  £15.72 per hour (£32,555.64)
