Night Shift Manager

Are you an experienced Night Shift Manager, Warehouse Manager or Operations Supervisor who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys leading teams to deliver outstanding operational performance?
We are working with a leading international organisation within the professional equipment and media production sector, who are looking for a confident, hands-on Night Shift Manager to take ownership of overnight operations at their European headquarters.
This is a critical role responsible for ensuring equipment flows efficiently through the business, stock remains highly accurate and the operation is fully prepared for the following day''s activities.
The Role As Night Shift Manager, you will take full ownership of the performance, people and operational standards across the night shift.
You will lead teams across equipment control and equipment operations, ensuring workloads are completed accurately, safely and on time.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking overall ownership of night-shift operational performance
• Leading and developing Equipment Supervisors, Technicians, agency staff and trainees
• Managing staffing levels, workloads and priorities throughout the shift
• Driving zero shortages and maximum stock accuracy
• Ensuring scanning, returns and double-scanning procedures are consistently followed
• Identifying and prioritising urgent equipment, including repairs, shortages, sub-hires and new stock
• Removing operational bottlenecks and resolving issues quickly
• Ensuring equipment and departments are fully prepared for the early shift
• Maintaining accurate inventory and tracking information
• Investigating stock anomalies and ensuring appropriate corrective action
• Working closely with the Equipment Manager and departmental supervisors
• Ensuring returns areas are controlled and operating efficiently
• Maintaining high quality-control standards across equipment prepared for dispatch
• Preparing clear priorities and handovers for the following day

People Leadership As a first-line manager, you will be responsible for creating a positive, accountable and high-performing night-shift culture.
You will:

• Conduct regular 1-2-1s and performance reviews
• Provide clear feedback and support development
• Manage absence and holiday processes
• Conduct return-to-work interviews
• Support training and competency development
• Lead investigations where required
• Manage conflict effectively
• Deliver regular toolbox talks
• Ensure team members understand and follow operational and safety standards

Health & Safety Health and safety is a key part of the role.
You will lead by example and be responsible for:

• Carrying out regular H&S walk-rounds
• Promoting a strong safety culture across the night shift
• Ensuring compliance with manual handling procedures
• Maintaining safe storage and mechanical handling standards
• Acting as ICO1 during emergency evacuations
• Ensuring company safety procedures are consistently followed

About You We are looking for an experienced people manager with a strong background in warehouse, logistics, equipment, distribution or operational environments.
You will ideally have:

• Proven first-line management experience
• Experience managing teams in a fast-paced operational environment
• Strong personnel management and conflict-resolution skills
• Experience managing performance, absence and development
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Strong attention to detail, particularly around stock accuracy and operational processes
• A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
• Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office
• Experience with warehouse, inventory or asset management systems
• Experience using systems such as RT Pro would be advantageous
• Experience with Microsoft Teams
• The flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends when required

Working Hours & Benefits This is a 40-hour-per-week night-shift position, operating on a rotating shift pattern between 7:00pm and 7:00am, including some weekend work.
