Role Summary
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Engineer to support our manufacturing operations in Manchester. You’ll ensure production machinery is maintained, repaired, and running efficiently to minimise downtime across a busy baking and packaging operation.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on bakery production machinery including mixers, ovens, conveyors, and packaging lines

Rapidly respond to and resolve machinery breakdowns and faults

Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and apply effective solutions

Maintain detailed records of maintenance work and updates in compliance with food safety standards

Support continuous improvement of equipment reliability and operational efficiency

Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety and hygiene protocols

Collaborate effectively with production and engineering teams during handovers and day-to-day operations
Skills & Experience
Essential:
-
Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, BTEC, HNC or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-skilled Engineering

Previous experience in a manufacturing or food production environment

Strong fault-finding skills and hands-on ability in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance

Understanding of health, safety and food hygiene standards

Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively during shifts
Desirable:

Experience working with bakery or FMCG production equipment

Familiarity with PLC-controlled machinery and pneumatic/hydraulic systems

Experience with CMMS systems or digital maintenance reporting tools
