Manpower Recruitment have teamed up with an established School in Oxford City Centre.


We are recruiting for a Part Time Night House Parent.


This position averages at 25 hours per week, over a two-week rolling rota, including working every other weekend.

***Please note that this is a Waking Night position.


The Salary will be £18000pa


The aim of The Night House Parent role is to provide Security and Care to our students over the duration of the night, and to ensure that all students have access to an appropriate care figure, who can provide support to them, as required.


The Night (Awake) House parent works under the direction of the Night Boarding Manager. As a House Parent you will be our student''s key pastoral care figure in a Boarding House, providing high quality care to our students.
As a House Parent you are to act in ''loco parentis'' to our students while they are in our care at the School and be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.


Areas of Responsibility:


General:

  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of National Minimum Standards within boarding house practices and processes.
  • Help provide a safe and homely environment for boarders in their house and safeguard their welfare.
  • Be aware of, and comply with, current health and safety, safeguarding and child protection legislation and procedures, and to uphold the school''s policy on child protection.
  • Take a flexible approach to your duties with a willingness to ''muck in''. This role is both a challenging and rewarding role.
  • Be proactive in liaising with students about Exeat applications, and detailed arrangements for student arrival and departures for vacations or beginning and end of term.
  • Be on duty two days before the arrival of students to welcome students and to help them settle in, and two days after the departure of the students for the purposes of boarding inset, and to assist in the packing, clearing and checking of the rooms and House.


Student Behaviour, Welfare and Leadership

  • Participate in the establishment of a boarding environment which is supportive and provides clear boundaries and expectations of behaviour both individually and to each other.
  • Ensure that practices improve the quality of care provided, meets the needs and aspirations of students and raise their standards of achievement.
  • Adhere to the college''s procedures for dispensing, storing and recording of medications.
  • Administer homely medicine to students as required and to attend hospital if needed and requested.


Domestic:

  • Ensure the building is consistently secure, operate the alarm system following nightly curfews and during closedown, and complete Boarding House Checks including the security of doors and windows upon closing the building daily.
  • Ensure each student is in the Boarding house and accounted for at the end of the day and at the relevant curfew time - logging this information on our college database.
  • Complete regular safety checks in the Boarding Houses, such as fire extinguisher and alarm checks.
  • Ensuring the kitchen and facilities are clean and left to a high standard after each use, emptying the bins and putting the waste bins out on the appropriate day if needed.
