Network Security EngineerLocation: StevenageSalary: Circa 50,000 depending on experience, plus shift allowanceWorking Pattern: On-site, 24/7 shift patternWe are seeking a Network Security Engineer to join a specialist security function, supporting the protection of critical network infrastructure within a highly secure engineering environment. Working as part of a 24/7 security response team, you will combine network security expertise with incident triage, threat investigation and the continuous improvement of security systems.Key Responsibilities Design, configure and maintain network security solutions, including next-generation firewalls, secure proxies and intrusion detection and prevention systems. Support 24/7 security incident response, working with SOC analysts to investigate alerts, assess threats and coordinate appropriate responses. Analyse network traffic and packet captures to identify suspicious activity, vulnerabilities and potential security breaches. Implement security improvements, address vulnerabilities identified through security testing and help standardise network security tools. Monitor network performance and security, troubleshoot complex technical issues and maintain compliance with security standards. Candidate Requirements Strong knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, VLANs and load balancing.
