Nacelle Structural Design Engineer - Shanghai, China.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for structural design and component development for nacelles (inlet, fan cowl, thrust reverser, nozzle, process nacelle, mounting joints, EBU, etc., including modeling, connection selection, material and process selection, tolerance stack-up calculation, drafting, technical report preparation, prototype troubleshooting, DFM/DFA analysis, cost reduction, and weight optimization.
  • Responsible for defining and managing nacelle structure-related requirements.
  • Support prototype delivery, assembly, and testing of nacelle components; support product qualification certification, manufacturing conformity, and airworthiness work.
  • Responsible for nacelle structural discipline planning and capacity building establishing standards, specifications, and guidelines.
  • Responsible for planning and developing cutting-edge advanced nacelle structural technologies.
  • Responsible for structural design, trial manufacturing, test specimen design, and acceptance testing of new high-temperature CMC acoustic liners, metamaterial acoustic liners, and thermoplastic nonlinear acoustic liners.
  • Participate in drafting and establishing design workflows, specifications, and standards for new nacelle acoustic liners.

Qualifications:
  • Master''s degree or above preferred outstanding bachelor''s degree holders considered; 3+ years of structural design experience.
  • Majors in Aeroengine, Gas Turbine, Mechanical Design & Manufacturing, Aircraft Design & Manufacturing, Composite Materials, etc.
  • Knowledge of engine principles, engine/aircraft/spacecraft structural design, mechanical design, mechanics of materials/structures/composites/fluids, thermodynamics, etc.; background in nacelle structural design, CMC materials, or thermoplastic materials preferred.
  • Proficient in at least one 3D modeling software e.g., UG, CATIA, PRO/E, SolidWorks-and PDM systems; capable of complex surface modeling.
  • Familiar with processing technologies for sheet metal, machined, and composite parts, as well as typical assembly processes; capable of solving prototype production issues.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, coordination, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in summarizing technical experience, writing technical reports, patents, or academic papers.
  • Basic understanding of quality and risk-management; familiar with quality tools such as DFMEA and Double Five-root-cause analysis.
  • Experience in aviation institutes, international companies, or MRO facilities preferred; experience in quality management, configuration management, systems engineering, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Aviation background required. Experience in structural design of inlets, fan cowls, thrust reversers, nozzles, mounting joints, EBU, or overall nacelle structures preferred. Experience in full-engine acoustics design or acoustic liner design is highly preferred.

Candidates must be willing to live and work in Shanghai for 1-3 years initial contract.
