Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off – 6am–6pm / 6pm–6am (4 Days 4 off 4 Nights on 4 off)
Average Hours: 42 hours per week

The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for two Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineers to join a leading food packaging manufacturer at their Bridgwater.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you will provide first-response maintenance support across PET extrusion, thermoforming and ancillary manufacturing equipment. You will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults, completing planned maintenance and helping to improve the reliability and efficiency of the site.
You must be genuinely multi-skilled, with strong electrical and mechanical maintenance experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to breakdowns and provide first-line engineering support across the site.
- Diagnose, fault-find, repair and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Carry out reactive maintenance, running repairs and root cause analysis.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance and accurately update CMMS records.
- Support production start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers and line optimisation.
- Identify recurring equipment issues and implement corrective actions.
- Support the installation, commissioning and upgrading of new equipment.
- Work alongside OEMs and external suppliers to resolve technical issues.
- Use problem-solving techniques such as 5 Why and RCA to prevent repeat failures.
- Contribute to TPM, Operational Excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, housekeeping and engineering discipline.
What We're Looking For
- Strong multi-skilled mechanical and electrical maintenance experience.
- Previous experience within manufacturing, FMCG, plastics, packaging or process environments.
- Excellent electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
- Experience working with motors, drives, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics and control systems.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience using a CMMS or maintenance management system.
- Ability to remain calm and prioritise effectively during breakdown situations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- An engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or HNC.
Desirable Experience
- PET extrusion.
- Thermoforming.
- PLC fault-finding.
- TPM or Continuous Improvement.
- Equipment installation and commissioning.
