Multi-Skilled Technician (Carpentry Bias) – Commercial Building Services
Location: West Sussex
Salary: £41,000 per annum + overtime + benefits
Shift Pattern: 2 nights on, 2 days on, 4 days off (12-hour shifts)

About the Role:
We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Multi-Skilled Technician with a strong carpentry background and proven experience in commercial building services. This static role, based at a high-profile site in West Sussex, offers a dynamic working environment and a rotating shift pattern that supports work-life balance.
You’ll be responsible for a broad range of maintenance tasks, from fabric repairs and joinery to supporting plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems. A key part of the role involves working with various lock installations, including digital locks, ensuring site security and functionality.
Key Responsibilities:

Carry out fabric maintenance and carpentry tasks (e.g. door repairs, furniture fixes, partitioning, flooring, and general joinery)

Install, repair, and maintain various lock systems, including mechanical and digital locks (e.g. digi locks, keypad systems)

Support wider building services including basic plumbing, HVAC, and electrical maintenance

Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive issues

Assist with small works and refurbishment projects across the site

Conduct water hygiene tasks (e.g. flushing, temperature checks)

Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used

Liaise with site teams, contractors, and helpdesk to ensure smooth service delivery

Adhere to health & safety procedures, permits to work, and risk assessments
Requirements:

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry/Joinery or equivalent trade qualification

Strong experience in commercial environments such as offices, healthcare, retail, or hospitality

Good understanding of lock installations, including digital locking systems

Basic competency in other trades (e.g. plumbing, HVAC, electrical)

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently across both day and night shifts
Desirable:

Experience with CAFM systems and digital reporting

Familiarity with BMS alerts and fault diagnostics

Awareness of water hygiene and building compliance
