Multi-Axis CNC Milling Machinist (Setter/Operator)

We are seeking an experienced Multi-Axis CNC Milling Machinist to join a high-precision manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating multi-axis CNC milling machines, ensuring components are produced to tight tolerances, high quality standards, and within required production schedules. This role also plays a key part in providing technical support within the team and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate multi-axis CNC milling machines within a precision engineering environment

  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical instructions

  • Support technical problem-solving and assist in resolving machining or production issues

  • Provide technical support to the Team Leader or Shift Supervisor when required

  • Assist with gathering production data and commitment information to support planning and delivery

  • Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures, quality standards, and health & safety requirements

  • Follow work instructions, production schedules, and job lists accurately and efficiently

  • Carry out and support TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) activities on equipment

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment

  • Perform self-inspection of components using a range of measuring equipment to ensure required quality standards are met

  • Identify and contribute to continuous improvement opportunities within the work area

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support efficient production flow

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling machines

  • Strong understanding of machining processes and engineering principles

  • Ability to accurately read and interpret technical engineering drawings

  • Experience working to tight tolerances within a manufacturing environment

  • Confident in the use of a wide range of measuring equipment

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to technical issues

  • Experience supporting production teams in a fast-paced environment

  • Understanding of manufacturing and continuous improvement principles would be advantageous
