Alecto Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Engineer to join a well-established engineering business based in Leeds.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys fault finding, getting hands-on with machinery and working on equipment where no two days are the same.

The Role

You''ll be responsible for keeping a varied fleet of heavy machinery and associated equipment in excellent working condition, carrying out maintenance, repairs and fault diagnosis both at the depot and on customer sites.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy plant and machinery.
• Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
• Working on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, pumps and associated components.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.
• Attending customer sites across the UK when required, including occasional overnight stays.
• Reading and interpreting technical diagrams to identify and resolve faults.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

What We''re Looking For

We''re keen to speak with engineers from backgrounds including plant hire, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, heavy plant or similar industries.

You''ll ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Heavy Plant Engineer or Agricultural Engineer.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Experience working with diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
• The ability to work independently and solve technical problems.
• A full UK driving licence.
• A relevant engineering qualification, such as an NVQ in Plant Maintenance, would be advantageous.
• Additional industry-related training and welding experience would also be beneficial.
