The Role

As a Generator Service Engineer, you''ll be responsible for the servicing, inspection, testing and repair of diesel generating sets across customer sites and the company''s own hire fleet.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned servicing and maintenance of diesel generators.
• Attending customer sites across the UK to diagnose and repair faults.
• Carrying out fault finding, testing and diagnostics.
• Performing load bank testing to ensure generators are operating efficiently.
• Completing pre- and post-hire inspections.
• Servicing and maintaining the company''s own generator hire fleet.
• Carrying out temporary repairs where required to keep customers operational while parts are sourced.
• Supporting generator installations and fabrication work when required.
• Assisting with UPS battery build and installation projects.
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring equipment is safe, clean and ready for use.
• Building strong relationships with customers and providing a professional service at every visit.
• Participating in a 24/7 call-out rota.

What we''re looking for

We''re interested in speaking with engineers who have a strong mechanical or electrical background and ideally have experience working specifically with diesel generators.

Essential:

• Minimum 2 years'' experience working with diesel generators.
• Mechanical or Electrical engineering qualification.
• City & Guilds / NVQ in Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
• Ability to carry out temporary repairs to keep equipment operational.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to occasionally work away from home.
• Flexibility to participate in a 24/7 call-out rota.

Desirable:

• Experience working on a variety of generator manufacturers.
• Manufacturer-specific generator training.
• Experience with generator installation or fabrication.
• UPS/battery installation experience.
