We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated MFL Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Derby. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire & educate students in a supportive and dynamic environment.
The RoleWe are looking for a motivated MFL Teacher to deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stage 3 & Key Stage 4, with the ability to teach French and/or Spanish. In this temporary role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of your students. This role could become permanent for the right candidate.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, prepare, and deliver MFL lessons that cater to a range of abilities
Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and interventions as needed
Contribute to the development of the MFL curriculum and participate in departmental planning
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and learning
Engage with parents, guardians, and colleagues to support student progress and wellbeing
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Experience: At least 1–2 years of experience teaching MFL in a UK secondary school, with a good understanding of KS3 and KS4 curriculum requirements
Qualifications: A degree in a modern foreign language (e.g. French or Spanish) or related subject, and UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Training: Strong classroom management skills and experience with differentiated instruction. Familiarity with safeguarding policies and procedures
Skills: Excellent communication, organisation, and the ability to inspire and motivate pupils

To be considered for the higher end of the salary bracket, candidates should demonstrate:Extensive experience in teaching MFL at GCSE level with proven student success
Leadership experience, such as leading the MFL department or involvement in extracurricular language programmes
Continued professional development (CPD) in MFL teaching or curriculum innovation
