Metrology Engineer

About this Position:
Our client is seeking a Metrology-Engineer to deliver robust dimensional analysis across whole vehicles, sub-systems and components, supporting continuous quality improvement through Meisterbock/cubing activities and adherence to established metrology processes. The role covers planning and daily management of work for a designated area, status reporting, cross-functional collaboration, and engagement with suppliers to mature part and system quality. You will also assess new measurement equipment, maintain metrology hardware/software, and contribute to Production Emergence Plan milestones.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build and measure components/fixtures/vehicles to PDM/AVO/RPS requirements; generate measurement reports using appropriate equipment.

  • Interrogate fitment processes, analyse dimensional/functional issues, and provide root-cause conclusions with clear communication of findings.

  • Plan, manage and report daily project activities within the designated area; work cross-functionally and with suppliers to meet departmental deliverables.

  • Collect, manage and analyse data to produce concise analysis reports aligned to the Production Emergence Process.

  • Maintain specialist knowledge, including interfaces with group partners and measurement solution providers; oversee routine maintenance of metrology equipment and software.

Experience Required:

  • Proficiency in optical and tactile metrology, reference point systems, engineering drawings and GD&T; strong measurement skills for vehicle properties/zones.

  • Hands-on experience with PolyWorks, PowerInspect and GOM Inspect; working knowledge of CATIA, KVS and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Familiarity with problem-solving tools, basic root-cause analysis, change management and release levels; ability to influence stakeholders and operate effectively within a team.

  • HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline or completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship; relevant National Physical Laboratory training or equivalent experience.
