As a Merchandiser, you will play a key role in driving business performance by delivering profitable, licensed product ranges within your assigned categories. You will take ownership of day-to-day merchandising activities while working collaboratively with Buyers, Suppliers, Licensors, Trade, and Marketing teams to ensure all product launches are delivered on time, aligned with brand strategy, and meet commercial objectives.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Weekly Sales, Stock and Intake (WSSI) to achieve KPIs, including sales, margin, and stock targets.
- Oversee linecards to optimise sales performance and maintain healthy stock levels across all core lines.
- Raise, track, and negotiate purchase orders, ensuring cost efficiency and timely delivery from suppliers.
- Analyse in-season trading, forward cover, and sell-through performance to identify risks and opportunities.
- Plan and implement markdown strategies to maximise profit and minimise terminal stock.
- Define and execute departmental strategy, setting sales, stock, and profitability targets.
- Review historical product performance to inform future buying and merchandising decisions.
- Conduct competitor benchmarking and regular store visits, providing insights to Buyers to enhance range development.
- Manage the Critical Path to ensure intake deadlines and product launches are met.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Merchandiser or Junior Merchandiser in a retail or e-commerce environment; licensed/branded product experience preferred.
- Strong track record in delivering trading KPIs, cost management, margin optimisation, and critical path execution.
- Demonstrates strategic thinking with the ability to translate plans into actionable results.
- Highly organised, with the capability to manage multiple product launches and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, able to interpret sales data and translate insights into decisions.
- Confident communicator with proven ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Proficient in Excel and experienced in using product management systems.
