Job Opportunity: MEP Commissioning Manager
Location: Oxford (primarily on-site, occasional flexibility to work from home)
Contract: Start ASAP - January 2026 (potential extension)
Day Rate: Circa -500/day (Outside IR35)
We are seeking an experienced MEP Commissioning Manager to join a high-specification life sciences fit-out project, currently at Level 1. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate both mechanical and electrical commissioning activities (approximately 50/50 split). Preference will be given to candidates from a mechanical background, though those with strong electrical knowledge and mechanical understanding will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate all MEP commissioning activities on site
Manage and liaise with contractors, project managers, and commissioning specialists
Chair and lead commissioning meetings with authority and clarity
Ensure all commissioning processes align with project requirements, quality standards, and deadlines
Work closely with the on-site commissioning manager to ensure successful delivery
Requirements:
Significant MEP commissioning experience on fit-out projects (life sciences experience advantageous)
Ideally mechanically trained, but strong electrical candidates with mechanical knowledge will be considered
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Confident in managing teams and constructively challenging decisions when necessary
Immediate availability and commitment to the full project duration
