Prospero Teaching are looking for a dedicated, positive, and dynamic Mentor to support an enthusiastic and engaging 11-year-old with complex SEN needs. This is a deeply rewarding opportunity for professionals with backgrounds in specialist education, youth advocacy, children''s support work, or similar fields.
About the Young Person:
- Has complex Special Educational Needs and an EHCP
- Needs support to build independence, confidence, and complete practical tasks
- Keen to develop foundational money-handling skills
- Would love to work on a personal project based on their interests, which include hair and makeup, fashion and nails
- Looking for a Mentor they can confide in, especially around friendship challenges
- Needs encouragement and support when meeting new people
As a Mentor, you will:
- Provide 1:1 mentoring for 10 hours per week
- Support the young person in developing practical and social skills
- Help them plan and complete a personal interest-based project
- Encourage and guide them in handling money and making independent choices
- Be a trusted adult they can talk to about friendships and social challenges
About you:
- Experience working with young people with SEN, ideally in specialist settings
- A warm, approachable personality with strong emotional intelligence
- Ability to build trusting relationships and provide consistent support
- Creative and proactive in helping young people explore their interests
- Skilled in promoting life skills, confidence, and social development

Hours - 10 per week- flexible for this particular role- other tuition and mentoring roles are available in the area currently
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
