Are you a kind, patient, and understanding individual with a passion for supporting young people? We are looking for a dedicated Mentor to work with a Year 7 girl who is currently experiencing high levels of anxiety and has been out of school for several months.
This young person has Special Educational Needs (SEN) and is experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). She needs a calm, consistent, and encouraging Mentor to help her rebuild confidence, reduce anxiety, and gently re-engage with learning and social interaction.
Your Impact:
- Provide 1:1 mentoring focused on mental well being, confidence building, and emotional support
- Create a safe, trusting relationship that encourages gradual steps toward reintegration
- Work flexibly to meet the needs of the young person and her family
As a Mentor, you will:
- Deliver consistent mentoring sessions (minimum 4 hours/week per student up to full time)
- Support emotional well being and personal development
- Help students re-engage with education and social environments
- Work collaboratively with schools and families to ensure holistic support
About you:
- Experience working with young people, particularly those with SEN or EBSA
- Calm, empathetic, and reliable
- Able to build rapport and trust over time
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Full time/part-time - Dependent on candidate availability.
Hours - Monday to Friday- Part time to full time
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
- A background in youth work/ support work is highly desirable
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools
- Experience working with learners with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiasm, compassion and positivity are essential, along with a calm nature

- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
