Mental Health Teaching Assistant

Academics are seeking a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a range of schools across the Runcorn area. If you are a qualified teaching assistant and have knowledge of mental health in children, we would love to hear from you!

A Mental Health Teaching Assistant will assist children struggling with their mental health to learn and develop in the classroom, supporting their academic achievements and their emotional wellbeing. Those with degrees in psychology, prior experience working with SEN children, and a TA qualification are ideal candidates for this role.

• Supporting vulnerable children with their academic, social and emotional development.
• Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to ensure children are supported both inside and outside the classroom.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
• Helping students recognise and manage their emotions and developing coping strategies.
• Providing behaviour management, such as de-escalating situations when students become overwhelmed.
• Following school safeguarding procedures.

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Be based in Runcorn or surrounding areas.
• Have solid knowledge of mental health in children (Psychology and counselling degrees are desireable)
• Have previous experience in a classroom setting.
• Knowledge of behaviour management.
• Passionate about children''s wellbeing and personal development.
