Mental Health Support Worker - Colchester
Permanent | Full-time, 37.5 hours per week | -26,298.11 per annum
A Star Care Agency is recruiting on behalf of our client for one compassionate and reliable Mental Health Support Worker in Colchester.
You will support adults with enduring mental health needs as they move from hospital into community living. You will help clients achieve personal recovery goals, develop daily living skills, maintain their tenancies and build confidence and independence.
Responsibilities
- Provide practical, emotional and social support in clients'' homes and the community.
- Develop and review outcome-focused support plans and maintain accurate records.
- Recognise changes in wellbeing, assess risks and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Help clients access appointments, benefits and community services.
- Support people with complex needs, including mental health needs alongside substance misuse (dual diagnosis).
- Help clients manage housing, rent, bills and repairs.
- Monitor medication in accordance with support plans; this role does not involve administering medication.
- Maintain safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Requirements
- Experience supporting adults with enduring mental health needs or in a similar field.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of housing management, dual diagnosis and complex needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability for the full 37.5 hours weekly and flexibility to work across services in North East Essex.
Working hours
37.5 hours per week across a seven-day rota. Early shifts: 08:00-16:00. Late shifts: 13:30-21:30. One working weekend every two weeks. Alternative shifts may occasionally be required to meet service needs.
