Academics are currently recruiting for a Mental Health Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in Stroud. The Role - Mental Health Support Assistant

As a Mental Health Support Assistant in Stroud, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support focused on emotional regulation and wellbeing
• Support individuals with SEMH needs, trauma, anxiety, and behavioural challenges
• Use de-escalation techniques, positive behaviour support, and trauma-informed approaches
• Help create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams, and external professionals
• Encourage independence, resilience, and positive coping strategies

To succeed as a Mental Health Support Assistant in Stroud, you will have:

• A patient, empathetic, and emotionally resilient approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A genuine interest in mental health, SEMH, and SEN
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour support (desirable)
• Experience in mental health, care, education, or support work (beneficial but not essential)
