Academics are currently recruiting for a Mental Health Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in Stroud. This Mental Health Support Assistant role in Stroud offers the opportunity to work within a structured, therapeutic setting supporting individuals with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, alongside autism (ASC), anxiety, trauma backgrounds, and behavioural challenges.

The Role - Mental Health Support Assistant
As a Mental Health Support Assistant in Stroud, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support focused on emotional regulation and wellbeing
- Support individuals with SEMH needs, trauma, anxiety, and behavioural challenges
- Use de-escalation techniques, positive behaviour support, and trauma-informed approaches
- Help create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams, and external professionals
- Encourage independence, resilience, and positive coping strategies

To succeed as a Mental Health Support Assistant in Stroud, you will have:
- A patient, empathetic, and emotionally resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine interest in mental health, SEMH, and SEN
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour support (desirable)
- Experience in mental health, care, education, or support work (beneficial but not essential)
