Overview

As Duty Coordinator, you will accept referrals into the service and make decisions on the suitability of those referrals. You will establish a pathway for referrers and patients and act as a point of contact for external professionals and service users seeking help or advice. The post-holder will contribute to the development and maintenance of the service and meet performance standards for output and clinical outcomes. The Duty Coordinator is not expected to carry a caseload of clients and will support staff to work with IAPT-appropriate cases for which they have received suitable training. The post is suitable for Mental Health practitioners from multiple professions (e.g. Nursing, Mental Health Therapists, Psychology).Wolverhampton Talking Therapies offers interventions for Depression and anxiety disorders. The service commonly achieves above-average recovery rates, positive client feedback, and high job satisfaction from the team. We are looking to appoint a Duty Coordinator to provide support and guidance to the clinical and admin teams. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, with the ability to work well under pressure. You must be a team player, able to cope with conflicting demands, and capable of using your own initiative with problem-solving skills. You must be professional and flexible where required and have excellent attention to detail, a working knowledge of GDPR and confidentiality, and confidence to work efficiently and competently.Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist mental health, learning disability, and community healthcare services for the population of the Black Country. Across the region we provide: Adult and older adult mental health services; Specialist learning disability services; Mental health services for children and young people; Community healthcare services for children, young people and families in Dudley.Responsibilities

Support staff with queries regarding triage, treatment, and access to secondary care if required.Triage referrals entering the service via the Talking Therapies self-referral portal or from other professionals.Support the admin team with client/Duty queries.Work as a referral coordinator within Talking Therapies, acting as the first point of contact for patients presenting with mental health problems.Manage triage referrals and make clinical decisions about appropriate services.Recognise signs of abuse/safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action, following statutory and local procedures.Qualifications and Requirements

Suitable for Mental Health practitioners from multiple professions (e.g. Nursing, Mental Health Therapists, Psychology).Excellent organisational and communication skills; ability to work under pressure; team player; initiative and problem-solving abilities.Professional and flexible approach; attention to detail; working knowledge of GDPR and confidentiality.Experience or willingness to work within NHS frameworks and participate in appropriate training; DBS check may be required for some posts.Internal at-risk employees will be given preference for this position.Additional Information
