The school caters for children aged 4-16 who face social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, including attachment disorders, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and low self-esteem.Many of the pupils have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and therefore struggle in a mainstream environment. In this role, you will be supporting a small class of 5 to 10 pupils, collaborating with the schools teaching team, therapists and support staff to deliver specialist education and interventions that aim to boost the students'' learning, personal development and emotional growth.As a Mental Health and Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:Encourage academic progress and provide emotional support.Manage and respond to challenging behaviours caused by SEMH needs.Identify individual needs and triggers, and help guide students to overcome obstacles.Promote positive decision-making, reducing anti-social behaviours, and increase academic performance through trauma-informed practices.This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive specialist environment.
