Melanoma Clinical Nurse Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to work in partnership with members of the multidisciplinary Melanoma Team to provide quality specialist care. The post holder will support the cancer pathway at diagnosis and deliver personalised care. A key element of the role is knowledge of immune checkpoint inhibitors, the disease, and a passion to make a difference for patients and their families.The post holder will develop, implement and evaluate a seamless specialist service, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of clinical care and will act as lead specialist for this cohort. They will provide specialist advice, education and support to patients, their carers/relatives and health care professionals. The post holder will undertake clinical audits and support research within this specialist area.The post holder will contribute to the ongoing development of clinical practice, research and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, protocols and guidelines, and contribute to service developments in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues. This may include undertaking Peer Review.To ensure and promote safety and well-being of service users, the role promotes dignity and human rights through person-centred care principles. This post includes line management responsibility for a Band 4 Melanoma Cancer Support Worker.We are a large acute hospital trust in south-east England, providing general hospital services and specialist care to around 600,000 residents in West Kent and East Sussex, with a dedicated and diverse team of over 8,000 staff and specialised cancer services to over two million people through the Kent Oncology Centre.Looking for flexible working? Experience as a registered nurse with demonstrable knowledge in melanoma or oncology care and a passion to support patients and families.Ability to develop and implement clinical services, contribute to policy and guideline development, and participate in audits and research.Experience in line management or supervision of support staff is desirable.Seniority level
