Foundry Surrey is removing barriers and increasing access to health and wellness services for youth and families. The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) is an integral member of Foundry Surrey, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide medical office assistant support for the primary care clinic and reception duties for Foundry Surrey. The MOA will help create a welcoming, safe, inclusive and vibrant space for youth and families to access services. The MOA is often the first point of contact for anyone reaching out to access the primary care centre. It is vital that the MOA is knowledgeable about services available and able to provide accurate information. The MOA should be flexible and adaptable to competing priorities and can switch focus from data work to participant inquiries seamlessly. The MOA should be technology savvy and able to learn different computer systems. It is imperative that the MOA supports a diverse population and takes initiative to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for participants and staff.ResponsibilitiesWelcome youth to Foundry Surrey and contribute to a positive, welcoming atmosphere in the waiting areaRegister and triage patients, including setting up new patients with the Foundry Toolbox and EMR systemsEnsure patient flow during clinic hoursTransfer information between databases to ensure all updates are reflected to support clientsSupport tasks in the clinic; room prep, labeling samples, referrals, autoclaving as requiredStock exam rooms, support inventory and ordering of clinic suppliesPerform other related duties as requiredQualificationsMOA certificate and experience working in a medical practice; experience with clinic startup is an assetCriminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector check for youth and adultsExperience working with youthAdditional AssetsWell-developed interpersonal and written communication skillsExcellent organization, time and general management skillsAbility to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary teamUnderstanding of trauma-informed practicesCommitment to learning about colonization and its impact on health inequitiesAbility to work with diversity, equity and inclusion lensPhysical ability to complete required tasksAbout PCRSPacific Community Resources Society (PCRS) is a large not-for-profit agency serving vulnerable people in our communities from Vancouver to Hope.
