Hospital ManagerWe are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Psychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Manor and Cygnet Views and provide senior medical cover on our high dependency complex care services for men and women with learning disabilities, associated complex needs and who may have behaviours that challenge.The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required and will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.Cygnet Manor is our 20 bed service for men based in Shirebrook, Nottinghamshire and Cygnet Views is our 10 bed service for women in Matlock, Derbyshire.This is a full-time position with 0.2 WTE as Medical Director and 0.8 WTE as Consultant Psychiatrist.In this role, your expertise will be the driving force for life-changing treatment fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team including qualified nurses, psychologist and occupational therapist.At Cygnet, you''ll enjoy excellent professional development, shopping, travel and leisure discounts - as well as a range of healthcare and financial benefits - to support you to be happy both in and out of work.Apply now to enjoy excellent career prospects while reaping the rewards of making a difference to others - every day.Main duties and Responsibilities...As a Medical Director you will:Ensure optimal clinical outcomes for the people in our careLead on all aspects of clinical practice and serve as an example of operational excellenceProvide leadership for medical staff on both professional and managerial issues whilst monitoring their performanceSupervision of all consultants and ensuring consultants are supervising SDs and ASsProvide expert knowledge and support within the service and to the wider teamEnsure quality and compliance with internal and external standards and regulationsWork with colleagues to provide integrated, whole person treatment and careCoach, mentor and train colleaguesEnsure regular communication and meetings with medical staffAssist in recruitment and retention of medical staff to provide a high quality clinical serviceEnsure that medical staff are involved in hospital clinical governanceWork in conjunction with hospital managers to lead on the successful implementation of CQC outcomes for 4, 7 and 9Chair medical advisory committee meetings and attend Cygnet Medical Directors meetingsLiaise with Responsible Officer and Regional Medical Director in respect of concerns about fitness to practice issues for medical staffAs a Consultant Psychiatrist you will:Lead on the provision of high quality care to the service users admitted to the serviceAct as a positive role model, maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors and other staffTake overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary teamAssess referrals and undertake mental state examinations of service usersUndertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis and treatmentConduct ward rounds, patient reviews and clinical auditsLead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management and embed clinical governance within the serviceSupervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and managers'' hearings and attend hearingsLiaise with the Ministry of Justice for transfer of patients and approval of leave as requiredGood maintenance of patient recordsMaintain regular communications with the Site Medical Director and Hospital ManagerCommunicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff, directors, and other concerned bodies; maintain appropriate reportsAttend and contribute to academic meetings and adhere to the professional standards for CPD as set out by the GMC, the Department of Health and the Royal College of PsychiatristsContribute to [insert frequency] Telephone On call rotaWhy Cygnet?
