Semi skill Mechanic  / Yardsman

Location: Avonmouth, Bristol
Salary: £40,000+ (depending on experience)

Abatec are recruiting on behalf of a well-established supplier of construction equipment and material handling machinery, supporting customers across the construction, waste, and articultural sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Mobile Fitter / Yardman to join their team based at their Avonmouth depot.

This is primarily a workshop-based role, with occasional local field service work using a company van. The role would suit someone with mechanical or plant maintenance experience who enjoys working with heavy machinery in a varied and hands-on position.

Hours and Rates of pay

• Monday to Friday 7:00am – 6:00pm
• From 40K per hour DOE
• Based at the Avonmouth HQ
• Own transport required

Key Responsibilities

• Washing and preparing machines
• General yard duties
• Operating a forklift (training can be provided)
• Carrying out servicing and routine maintenance
• Machine repairs and fault finding
• Investigate equipment issues
• Carrying out engine, transmission, and hydraulic repairs
• Occasional local field service work

About you

• Experience in plant, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, or HGV mechanics
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
• Comfortable using diagnostic software and laptops
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems, engines, and transmissions
• Forklift experience beneficial (training available)
• Reliable and able to work independently and as part of a team
