About the Role

Land & Sea Resources are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join a major energy operation based in Barrow-in-Furness.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician with a strong background in oil & gas, petrochemical or process plant environments to secure a long-term two-year contract working within an established gas production and processing facility.

The successful Mechanical Technician will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, defect resolution, commissioning and decommissioning activities across operational plant and equipment associated with gas production, processing and condensate storage.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine and non-routine mechanical maintenance and defect repair activities as a Mechanical Technician.

Investigate technical problems involving critical plant and equipment and identify appropriate solutions.

Support the safe and efficient return of plant and equipment to operational service. Prepare technical reports and maintain accurate records of maintenance and engineering activities.

Carry out commissioning and decommissioning activities in accordance with planned programmes.

Support the design and commissioning of plant modifications and contribute recommendations for improvements.

Supervise contractors and vendor personnel where required, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.

Ensure appropriate permits and safe working practices are in place before commencing work.

Work closely with maintenance, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation teams.

Essential Requirements

The successful Mechanical Technician will have:

Several years of mechanical experience within the offshore oil & gas / E&P industry.

Demonstrable experience within petrochemical process operations or maintenance.

A sound understanding of engineering principles.

Experience working within hazardous and safety-critical environments.

Strong knowledge of safe working practices and permit-to-work systems.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.

BTEC Ordinary Certificate or equivalent qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline.

Willingness to complete and maintain all mandatory training and competency requirements.

Desirable Experience

Previous experience as a Mechanical Technician within an offshore, gas processing, petrochemical or similar process environment would be highly advantageous.

Experience or training in the following would also be beneficial:

Working Environment

The Mechanical Technician will work closely with the wider maintenance and operations teams, including Mechanical Team Leads, Maintenance Supervisors, Electrical & Instrumentation teams and other engineering personnel.

The role requires an experienced professional who can work collaboratively, communicate effectively and maintain high standards of safety, reliability and operational performance.
