Job Title: Mechanical Technician
Location: Slough
Department: Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
Industry: Heavy Process / Energy Sector

Overview: A Mechanical Technician is required to support the maintenance and operation of a 24/7 process facility. Working within the Operations & Maintenance team, the role involves performing skilled mechanical tasks to ensure reliable and efficient plant operations, in line with safety standards and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out mechanical repairs on plant systems and equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to maintain equipment performance.
  • Plan and prepare details for assigned maintenance jobs.
  • Identify and assess risks associated with mechanical tasks.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to other team members when required.
  • Participate in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) inspections, audits, and meetings.
  • Report any HSE issues or non-compliance promptly.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship (required).
  • HNC/D in Mechanical Engineering (desirable).
  • Proven experience in a maintenance or engineering role in a continuous process or industrial environment.
  • Hands-on knowledge of:
    • Gearboxes
    • Conveyors
    • Steam raising equipment
    • Valves, rotating machinery
    • Hydraulic systems
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Team leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Good planning, coordination, and task management.
  • Strong focus on safety and compliance.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in English (written and verbal).
