About the Role
This role is for a Mechanical Systems Design Engineer based in North London, working on permanent basis with a salary of £45,000 to £55,000 per annum. The position involves supporting the design, development, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems for defence-related products across their full lifecycle. Key responsibilities include producing engineering drawings and technical documentation, assisting with prototyping and testing new equipment, implementing design changes, and supporting cost and timescale estimation for projects. The successful candidate will contribute to product improvements and maintain existing mechanical designs in line with engineering standards.
We are looking for a Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems for complex defence-related products.
You will be responsible for supporting mechanical design activities across the full product lifecycle, including design, prototyping, testing, and ongoing product improvements in line with engineering standards and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Support mechanical design and development activities in line with engineering processes
Improve and maintain existing product mechanical designs
Produce engineering drawings and technical documentation
Support cost and timescale estimation for design projects
Assist with prototyping and testing of new equipment
Implement drawing changes and design refreshs as required
Occasional UK travel may be required
Requirements
Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
