Shift Mechanical Engineer Location: BirminghamSalary: £32,000-£35,000 + £3,000 shift allowanceHours: 40.25 hours per weekShift Pattern: 2 days on (7am-7pm), 2 nights on (7pm-7am), followed by 4 days offJob Type: Permanent The Role We are recruiting an experienced Shift Mechanical Engineer to join a site-based engineering team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified mechanical engineer to work within a technically demanding environment, maintaining essential building services and ensuring mechanical systems operate safely and reliably. You will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding and the operation of mechanical plant and equipment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will help maintain high standards of safety, compliance and service delivery. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across mechanical building services. Diagnose faults and undertake repairs on complex mechanical systems. Maintain and troubleshoot ventilation systems, pumps, compressors and boilers. Work on heating systems and domestic hot and cold-water services. Support the maintenance of medical gas systems, following appropriate training and competency requirements. Respond to building management system (BMS) alerts and maintenance requests.
