Mechanical Project Engineer – Bournemouth – 6 Month Contract
We’re working with a well-established M&E contractor seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to work on a 6 month hospital project in Bournemouth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, design, and delivery of mechanical systems for diverse engineering projects.
- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to manage material procurement and delivery schedules.
- Oversee on-site mechanical installation works, ensuring compliance with project requirements, safety standards, and quality procedures.
- Support the Project Manager in tracking progress, resolving technical issues, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and review technical submittals, RFIs, and method statements.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and prompt resolution of issues.
- Participate in commissioning, testing, and handover processes, ensuring systems are fully functional and meet regulatory standards.
- Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and value engineering opportunities.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services, with a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in a contracting environment.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and A&ID’s, and piping systems with P&ID’s.
- Experience using project planning tools and updating project master plans.
- Familiarity with BIM and software such as Navisworks (or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and large QA database systems (e.g., Eida).
- Experience with project engineering tasks including technical submittals and RFIs.
- Ability to work closely with site construction teams, preparing installation work packs and supporting the installation process.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to perform under strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Hospital project experience is advantageous but not essential.
