About the Company
Our client is a global chemical manufacturer in the Manchester area who is looking to add a Mechanical Project Engineer to their Engineering team. This is a hands-on and varied role that combines engineering design, maintenance, safety management, and project delivery, with opportunities to contribute to plant-wide improvement initiatives.
Mechanical Project Engineer - Requirements
- Bachelor''s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in engineering/projects within a chemical, pharmaceutical, or petrochemical environment (COMAH experience preferred).
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and reliability engineering.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Managing and delivering mechanical-biased projects from design through to completion.
- Providing technical expertise and troubleshooting to support plant operations.
- Leading on maintenance strategies to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Supporting process safety initiatives, including active participation in HAZOPs.
- Overseeing contractors and vendors to ensure quality, compliance, and performance.
- Conduct detailed engineering design of mechanical systems and components.
- Manage compliance with PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, and PED inspection/installation programs.
- Lead and participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and HAZOP studies.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement solutions to reduce downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment performance and maintenance activities
