Salary: £52,000

Pin Point Recruitment is currently working with an established and successful manufacturing business to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer with a background in a production or manufacturing environment, ideally within print, mailing or a similar high-volume manufacturing operation.
 
You will be responsible for providing first-line engineering support across the site, troubleshooting machinery breakdowns, carrying out preventative maintenance and identifying long-term solutions to improve machine reliability and production performance.

  The Role  
·         Providing first-line engineering support for machinery breakdowns and faults.
·         Diagnosing mechanical issues and ensuring machinery is returned to production safely and efficiently.
·         Taking ownership of engineering problems and seeing them through to a permanent solution.
·         Working closely with Production Managers to prioritise repairs and complete work orders.
·         Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and ensuring maintenance schedules are maintained.
·         Supporting continuous improvement projects from initial concept through to completion.
·         Identifying opportunities to improve machine availability, reliability and overall effectiveness.
·         Prioritising repairs during planned production downtime.
·         Ordering spare parts and helping to manage engineering stores and stock levels.
·         Working with third-party engineering companies where specialist parts or components need to be manufactured.
·         Supporting accident prevention and maintaining high standards of Health & Safety across the site.
·         Working as part of the Health & Safety committee.
·         Updating repair and PPM records using the company's maintenance management system.
·         Attending regular maintenance meetings to review PPM, breakdowns and general engineering requirements.
·         Working closely with the wider engineering team across multiple sites to ensure consistent processes and procedures.
·         Developing your electrical knowledge to complement your mechanical engineering skills.
·         Promoting 6S and continuous improvement within the engineering department.
 

Shift Pattern  
This is a 12-hour rotating shift pattern:
 
·         Week 1: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday – Days
·         Week 2: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday – Days
·         Week 3: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday – Nights
·         Week 4: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday &  Thursday– Nights
·         Week 5: Thursday, Friday & Saturday – Days
·         Week 6: Thursday, Friday & Saturday – Days
 
The pattern then repeats.
 
  What We're Looking For  
We're looking for a practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys troubleshooting and finding solutions rather than simply fixing the immediate problem.
 
  You will ideally have:
 
·         Minimum 4 years' engineering experience within a production/manufacturing environment.
·         Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
·         Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
·         Some basic electrical knowledge.
·         Experience working with machinery in a fast-paced production environment.
·         Previous experience within printing, mailing or a similar manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous.
·         IOSH training would be desirable.
·         Experience of planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
·         A proactive and solution-focused approach.
·         Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with people at all levels of the business.
·         A genuine interest in continuous improvement and developing your engineering skills.
·         A positive, "right first time" and "can-do" attitude.
·         The ambition to develop and take on additional responsibility.
