Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Shift Fitter to join a well-established industrial business based in the Fort William area. This is a permanent opportunity to join a busy site maintenance team, providing mechanical maintenance and breakdown support across a wide range of production plant and machinery. Working as part of the shift maintenance team, you will play a key role in keeping the site running safely and efficiently. The position will involve a mixture of planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs and responding to machinery breakdowns. The Role As Mechanical Shift Fitter, your responsibilities will include: Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across production equipment and machinery. Diagnosing mechanical faults and completing repairs to minimise production downtime. Responding promptly to breakdowns across production lines. Installing and replacing mechanical components including chain drives, gear motors, valves and pumps. Completing planned maintenance inspections and identifying potential faults before they result in breakdowns. Working closely with production and other maintenance personnel to ensure equipment remains safe and operational. Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and housekeeping.
