Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with a strong plumbing/mechanical background to deliver planned and reactive maintenance across a commercial building. The ideal candidate will have experience with water treatment systems, including cooling towers and Legionella compliance (L8).

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance tasks.

• Maintain and repair pumps, pipework, valves, heating systems, and general plumbing infrastructure.

• Conduct routine inspections and testing of water systems in line with L8/Legionella control requirements.

• Support cooling tower operations and ensure compliance with water treatment protocols.

• Assist with general building maintenance and support other engineering functions as required.

• Complete service records, logbooks, and compliance documentation accurately.

• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety and site procedures.

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering.

• Strong experience in commercial building maintenance.

• Knowledge of water treatment systems, cooling towers, and Legionella prevention (L8 compliance).

• Understanding of HVAC systems and associated mechanical plant.

• Good communication skills and ability to work independently or within a team.

• Flexibility to support out-of-hours work or call-outs if needed.

• L8 Awareness/Legionella Control Certification.

• City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering or equivalent higher-level qualification.

• Previous experience in commercial office buildings or facilities management.
